Journals From the Self Retreat:

a journey of connection

March 19 - 26, 2022

Yoga & journaling at the Bhodi Tree Yoga Resort, Costa Rica

stewarded by Trish Washburn

Yoga teaches us how to connect with the external world around us and also our inner world - the world of thoughts, ideas, creativity, investigation and contemplation. This relationship between the external and internal world of Oneness is one that requires deep faith, truth, trust, authenticity and awareness.

In order to investigate and contemplate the world at large, we need time in our schedule... and a yoga retreat is the perfect opportunity to do just that - make time to listen to the Self who whispers wisdoms from within. The core of who you are, is a Divine Being. The multi-faceted being you have come to know is not separate from the Whole, but in fact, a living, breathing important part of that Whole.

During this Costa Rica yoga retreat, you will be guided to deeper explorations and authentic connections through daily journaling and contemplative yoga practices woven through the abundance of personal and community time.

The intention of this retreat is to guide you back to the Divine in all of existence. To remind you of the Truth about who you are. To be a guide for you to deepen in your relationships and most importantly, the relationship with your very Self.

You can round out your week-long escape focused on yoga, journaling and the art of change with truly fantastic off-site excursions. With two daily yoga sessions and plenty of time dedicated to renewal, you can explore excursions like horseback riding on the beach, surfing lessons, surf board rentals, canopy zip line tours, river kayaking, bird-watching, waterfall hikes, stand up paddle surf, and a turtle refuge tour!

Your registration investment includes your transportation to and from the Liberia airport, your accommodations, 3 meals per day, along with your yoga practices. Yoga mats and props are also provided. Your flight, spa services, and excursions are extra.

Please read below to view your accommodation pricing options ranging from $1800 on up. Minimum $500 non-refundable deposit is due upon reservation. Payment plans are available.  Full balance due December 1, 2020.

I hope that you will join us for this unforgettable adventure!
Namaste!
Trish

All About Nosara

Nosara is located in the beautiful province of Guanacaste in the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica. Nicoya is considered one of the Blue Zones areas where cultures have evolved to prolong the longevity of human life. Life expectancies of Nicoya residents easily surpass 100 years of age with a population far older than the rest of the country.

A water source enriched with calcium and magnesium, diets composed of naturally harvested foods, and a strong sense of community are a few of the secrets residents of Nicoya follow to live a pure, happy and long life.

Despite having one of the last locations with unpaved roads in the country, Nosara’s wonderful lack of development directly on the beach makes it special. Known as one of the most sophisticated beach towns in Costa Rica, this small but special town has a lot to offer. Travelers from all over the world enjoy the pristine beaches that surround it. This area has a huge passion for the protection of the national parks system which makes the place unique for its hundreds of acres of protected forest.

The community is exceptional and united. The local citizens work really hard keeping the beaches clean. There is also a big drive for ecotourism, sustainability and recycling like no other town in the country. This sets the perfect example of a planned developed community. The natural beauty, way of life and vibe became a dream come true for hundreds of families that chose to live a tranquil and relaxed life. Parents have the opportunity to immerse their children in a more organic way of living in nature. Showing respect and loving nature becomes one of the most important parts of life. Being woken up by monkeys; eating healthy and real food, playing outside, enjoying wonderful bilingual private school options and learning to respect different cultures, the children grow up with a real sense of life.

Nosara offers all modern amenities like: high-speed internet, cable or satellite TV, stocked grocery stores with plenty of imported items and amazing restaurants with a diversity of international cuisine. The official town is located 6 km inland from the beach.

Yoga & Surfing culture is huge and a significant component of this town. You will see that people are either carrying a surf board or a yoga mat in their arms. Nosara has been called one of the world’s 20 best surf towns. With a diversity of waves in the area, it invites world-class surfers, novice and intermediate surfers to enjoy the magical and consistent waves year round. There are a variety of fitness options all over town. If you are not a surfer or a yogi, you don’t have to worry! There are plenty of adventure activities around like ATV tours, Zip Lining, Horseback Riding, Stand Up Paddling, Kayak and much more.

The beauty found in Bhodi Tree is the art of making our vacation space a sanctuary for the soul, where we can escape the discord and stress of modern life. Bhodi Tree provides a place where we can seek new meaning for our lives and restore the mind-body balance. Living the 'Pura Vida' lifestyle introduces us to the simplicity, naturalness and depth of beauty found in every day life. A place for quiet contemplation where we can search for inner truth.

About Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort

Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort opened its doors in 2014 for travellers that want to enjoy the magic of Costa Rica in a very unique and healthy way. The Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort was creatively designed around nature, leaving the surrounding jungle as it was meant to be. We strived to preserve the jungle’s natural state leaving the impression that this resort has been here for many years. Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort takes great pride in hiring locally. Their creative and progressive staff will give you a taste of the real Costa Rican culture.

Solar panels are responsible for utilizing the sun to heat all the hot water needed for the facility. Bodhi Tree will always work towards being as environmentally friendly as possible.

Being aware of water usage is important in Costa Rica. Long dry winters use up the aquifers storage making it even more important for water management. Bodhi Tree takes this very seriously and every drop of water goes to use on their grounds. Bodhi Tree has built its own water treatment plant so no water is wasted. This water is used to irrigate the gardens keeping everything green without draining subcutaneous water supplies.

They are very proud to be a plastic free facility. Along with their community they have taken an aggressive stand on keeping their environment clean and healthy. We encourage every guest to join them in doing their part in Keeping Costa Rica (and our studio) Plastic Free.

Turtles - Ostional

The Ostional Wildlife Refuge in Costa Rica was created in 1984 to protect the nesting site of the Olive Ridley Sea Turtle; this location is one of the largest mass nesting destinations globally. The week before the new moon, hundreds and sometimes hundreds of thousands of sea turtles come to one specific mile of beach to dig their eggs into the black volcanic sand.
